Turner's Fresh Market

E208 Hwy 54
715-258-3355

History:

Turner's Farm was originally started by John & Lulu Turner in 1949  at "Far Away Valley" in the township of Belmont (now owned by the State and includes a stretch of the Ice Age Trail).   The farm was originally a dairy farm, which transitioned into a vegetable farm at its current location on Hwy 54 in 1963.  The Turners started by selling off a table in front of the road as well as vegetable deliveries around the Chain O'Lakes.  Later, a market was put in its place.

In 1976 the farm was bought and taken over by their son, Ross Turner.  Ross expanded the farm and continues to load many of the wholesale customers his parents did, and some new customers.  The farm supplies itself, as well as  other family run roadside markets located in central and northern Wisconsin (many of which are on their 3rd generation too!).  Rebuilding of Hwy 54, necessitated the move of the original market to a structure adjoining the barn in 1994.

In 2012, Tara Roberts-Turner (Ross's daughter) returned permanently to the farm.  After spending many summers at home, it was time for a transition.  In 2013, Turners became one of the founding members of The Wisconsin Food Hub Cooperative.  Tara is currently the president and business manager
