Southern Vermont Natural History Museum

7599 VT Route 9
802-464-0048

he Southern Vermont Natural History Museum was incorporated in 1996 after the acquisition of the historic Luman R. Nelson Natural History Collection.  Since then, the museum has grown to include exhibits on Mineralogy and Geology, live birds of prey, amphibians, reptiles and native fish species.
The Museum sits atop the Hogback Mountain Scenic Overlook and visitors are treated to some of the finest views in southern Vermont.  Adjacent to over 600 acres of preserved land, there is easy access to miles of hiking trails and great opportunities for observing local wildlife.
In 2012 the Museum began an expansion project which will offer visitors exhibits on local history, watersheds and ecology as well as building on existing facets of the collection.

The Museum strives to provide a superior experience for both our visitors and attendees of our educational programs.  As a private not-for-profit institution we happily accept your help in fulfilling this mission.
