About:

Three generations of the Leffler family operate this tree farm and garden, located on the southern 5 acres of the 80 acre LL&L Farm. This farm is about 4 miles south of where Grandpa Vic Leffler was born in 1913 and farmed all his life.

While Dick & Lois pursued careers off of the farm they have maintained a large garden all but a few years of their married life. Son Brian and daughter Jennifer have been involved in the garden as they grew up and now Brian's wife Jeannette and son's Ethan, Sam and Ben are active members of the crew. A tree farm was part of the initial Scarecrow Gardens plantings. Various interests have added new crops and livestock to the operations. A lavender labyrinth was started many years ago and a hops yard was added last year.

Sweet corn has been the main crop with ongoing experiments to grow the sweetest and best corn possible. Feedback from many satisfied customers shows that we are on the right track. We grow several kinds of hot peppers, tomatoes, summer squash and other vegetables. A wide variety of pumpkins and squash add beautiful fall colors to the garden, along with the Indian corn and the occasional attempt at growing peanuts. Every year brings something new and interesting. Join us in the journey.
