This 46-acre park is a high-activity site with soccer fields, baseball/softball fields, tennis courts, sand volleyball, basketball, walkways, picnic facilities, restrooms, and a local access skate park for the beginner and intermediate participant.

History

In 1990, the City of Lacey purchased 45 acres for $970,842, with $601,609 of funds from the city, and a grant in the amount of $369,233 from the Washington State Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation. In 1992, an additional acre of land was dedicated to the city in conjunction with permitting of a residential subdivision. In 2002, the voter approved park bond issue provided $2.8 million to develop this park, along with a $300,000 grant from the Washington State Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, and labor and equipment donated by the 864th Engineer Battalion Combat Heavy from Fort Lewis for earthwork and a significant portion of the storm water drainage system. As part of the “Innovative Readiness Training Program,” the men and women of the 864th Battalion contributed over 6,000 volunteer hours of heavy equipment operation and field engineering to initiate the construction of this community park. Rainier Vista Community Park was dedicated in 2004.
