About:

The Prairie Hills Audubon Society (PHAS) is a South Dakota non-profit corporation. We began meeting in 1993, established our first by-laws in 1994 and were certified as a National Audubon Society ((NAS) Chapter in 1994. Our chapter's territory, as assigned by the National Audubon Society, is much of "west river" South Dakota.

Prairie Hills Audubon Society is operated by volunteers; we have no paid staff. All persons interested in conservation of the Black Hills region are encouraged to become members of the Prairie Hills Audubon Society. Dues are $20 per year. If you are interested in joining or supporting

Our Mission:

To educate about, protect and restore our environment and natural heritage. We are a registered chapter of the National Audubon Society and participate in the Northern Plains Conservation Network.
