DOG PARKS:

Named one of the top dog parks by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Piedmont Park is a haven for dogs and humans alike! While a City of Atlanta ordinance requires all dogs in public areas to be leashed, Piedmont Park Dog Parks are one of the few metro-Atlanta locations where dogs may run free. This special three-acre off-leash area attracts more than 700,000 visitors each year.

The dog parks feature shaded areas, benches, water stations and nearby restrooms. The parks are 100% maintained by the Piedmont Park Conservancy, and relies on donations from the community and sponsors to operate.

Fishing – Since Piedmont Park Conservancy renovated Clara Meer in 2002, fishing in Piedmont Park is even better. The new bridge unifies the two parts of the lake into a single body of water and an aeration system improved the water quality. There are three new fishing piers and the dock making it easier than ever to find the right spot.  The lake is routinely stocked with fish, including Large Mouth Bass, Crappie, Bream and Catfish, and attracts anglers of all ages. A valid State of Georgia fishing license is needed to fish in Piedmont Park.

Swimming

Swimming in Piedmont Park is a well-known pastime that dates back to before the original bathhouse was built in 1911. Today, the bathhouse is a 9,000 square foot LEED certified event space called Greystone, and the Aquatic Center is a renovation of a swimming pool built in 1973. The Piedmont Park Pool is operated by the Piedmont Park Conservancy through a partnership with the City of Atlanta. As a public pool, we adhere to City of Atlanta Aquatics regulations and procedures and Fulton County Health Department requirements.

Tennis

Universal Tennis Management operates the Sharon J. Lester Tennis Center at Piedmont Park for the City of Atlanta Bureau of Parks. For more information on playing tennis in Piedmont Park, call 404.853.3461
