About Us:
We, at Peterson Farm, are committed to producing the best tasting, most healthy food possible, in a sustainable way. We call it 'real food.' We care for the soil, water, air, plants, animals, and especially our customers. We never use pesticides or commercial fertilizers on our crops. And we never use routine antibiotics or growth hormones in our animals. Everything is grown in harmony with nature. Plants are given organic nutrients, which not only nourish the plants but also the soil organisms. We let chickens be chickens, cows be cows, and pigs be pigs according to their nature and needs. Every food product raised on Peterson Farm yields a great tasting bounty that is full of nutrients.
Our farm is located in Randolph County, central North Carolina, about 12 miles south of High Point. It consists of 46 acres, which is part of a 365-acre tract bought by my great, great grandfather in 1858. My family has farmed this land for almost 150 years. I grew up on the farm and my wife and I have lived here for almost 40 years.
Over the years, we have learned a few things about growing good tasting and healthy food. For instance, many of our vegetables are heirlooms, and a few are even family heirlooms, cultivated over the years to taste better than vegetables from any other source.
Some of our vegetables are tried and tested F1 hybrids. By tested we mean that if we don’t think the taste or quality is premium we don’t grow it. Our meat is held to the same criteria. Our fully pastured chicken, pasture finished Jersey beef, and homegrown pork are top quality... and just about the best tasting meat you’ll ever eat!
