Jones Farm

About Us:

John H. Jones originally purchased the picturesque acreage that is now known as Jones Farm in 1914 from Miss Emily Cromwell, a direct descendent of Oliver Cromwell of England. The main house on the estate is now a bed and breakfast!

John and his wife Alice started the farm as a dairy operation and you'll still find evidence of the old hay loft in the barn as it stands today. With the help of their children Raymond, Chauncey and Almira, the dairy business expanded providing the Cornwall community with daily milk delivery for many years. As the pasteurization laws and demand changed, the Jones family transitioned from dairy into the egg and poultry business, raising over 7000 chickens. Raymond and his wife Gladys raised their three girls Alma, Doris and Alice as proud "farmer-ettes" responsible for chores running the gamut from gathering eggs, animal care and driving the tractors! From there the Jones family gravitated towards the produce business with over 20 acres of apple, peach, pear and plum orchards.  Today the farm is still known for homegrown apples, pears and plums, as well as a plentiful pumpkin patch, sweet corn crop and several acres of Summer vegetables.

As they celebrate 100 years in business, you'll find the Jones Farm is still owned by the same family with three generations working together side by side- 3rd generation farmers Doris Jones Clearwater and husband Belding, 4th generation farmer David Clearwater and wife Terri, 5th generation Catherine Clearwater and part time help from many other family members.

The many faceted homestead that greets visitors today includes a charming country store, gift shop, art gallery, and bakery. The family is excited to welcome the next century with the addition of a farm-side cafe featuring their seasonal homegrown produce. Cafe construction is underway with plans for opening in Fall 2014.

The Jones Farm family have remained true to our roots as a working farm but at the same time have embraced the future to provide a destination for all age groups.
