Bangor Skatepark

History:

The history of the Bangor Sk8park Committee goes back to 2 years ago. We the sk8boarders wanted and needed a sk8park to practice and have fun sk8boarding, since we were constantly getting harassed by police and businesses, getting our boards taken away cops, and there really wasn't anywhere to skateboard around this area. We formed a committee of kids and then we elected Kathy Leen to head and facilitate the meeting so that we could get more things done and go in the right direction. Slowly word got around and more and more kids started coming to the meetings and helping out. We started meeting every Tuesday at 3:30 at the Bangor Public Library and have been ever since for 2 years! Through all this time we have not only worked on getting an sk8park but also on the images that some adults or people see skateboarders as. We gave people a clean good perception of young kids and skateboarders instead of the usual trouble making punk kids that some people may think about.
