Whether it’s animal-proofing your food or reading the instructions before building a tent, there are a few cardinal rules to follow while camping! These unfortunate campers disregarded those basic rules and ran into some trouble on their outdoor excursion. From raccoon invasions to backpackers taking a spill, here are six hilarious camping fails for your entertainment!

1. Raccoons invade

Raccoons are stealthy little buggers. While they may look cute, they can wreak havoc on your campsite! Raccoons will surprise you with their ability to scrounge for treats, so be sure to animal-proof your stuff from these curious fellas!

2. Unexpected guest

Imagine you’re out in the wilderness among beautiful scenery, and an enormous Teddy Bear comes and plops down next to you. Would you be able to keep your cool?

3. When you’re not smarter than your tent

Pop up tents have become all the rage recently. While they may be super easy to put up, many people struggle putting it away. Perhaps they should have read the directions?

4. Your gear gets stolen

Camping gear is expensive so nothing is worse than having it stolen out of your locked car. But it can get worse—when it’s stolen by a hungry grizzly bear!

5. Backpacker fail

It’s not easy to cross a body of water on a log carrying all of your camping equipment on your back. Just watch this one backpacker give it a go.

6. Just horsing around

While raccoons and the occasional bear are common uninvited campsite guests, horses are a new one. Watch as this group of curious horses invade a campsite.
